The Town of Kirkland Lake will be conducting its annual Fall Watermain Flushing throughout the municipality starting on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 through to Friday, May 29, 2026.

Effective October 1, 2025, Ontario’s Blue Box recycling system will transition to a new model managed by Circular Materials under the Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act, 2016 and the Blue Box Regulation. This program applies only to residential properties; commercial, industrial, and institutional (IC&I) properties have never been eligible for municipal recycling collection, and this remains unchanged.

Please be advised that the Town of Kirkland Lake has depleted its inventory of municipal blue recycling bins. Effective October 1, 2025, the responsibility for providing new recycling bins will transition to GFL Environmental.

At its Regular Council Meeting held on April 2, 2024, Council approved the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the members of International Association of Fire Fighters’ (IAFF) Local 573.

On Thursday, MPP John Vanthof was at the Joe Mavrinac Community Complex to hear more about the $465,000 Community Building Fund Capital Grant from the Ontario government and administered by the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). The grant, awarded in late 2021, was used for upgrades to the arena, addressing a community need by upgrading ventilation and dehumidification units, replacing the rink’s boards and benches, and improving accessible access to the facility.

On February 6, 2024, Town Council approved a new Corporate Strategic Plan for 2024-2026 and beyond.

Residential property owners will be permitted to obtain 2 vouchers for 2022. Proof of property ownership must be presented to municipal staff in order to obtain your voucher.

There is a new by-law for regulating what type of off-road vehicles are permitted on Town streets. Now in addition to all-terrain vehicles, there can be multi-purpose off-highway utility vehicles and recreational off-highway vehicles.
