Province Announces Disaster Relief Funding for Kirkland Lake Residents Impacted by April's Flooding Event

The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing has approved eligibility for Kirkland Lake Residents, within a designated activation area for the Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians (DRAO) program, in response to the flooding that occurred on April 12, 2024.

On June 18, 2024, a proposed by-law to amend The Corporation of the Town of Kirkland Lake’s Parking By-Law No. 15-017, and subsequent amendment By-Law No. 21-033, to update Table F (1) and Schedule F to incorporate a Pedestrian Crosswalk (PXO) on the west side of the intersection of Burnside Drive and Highway 66, will be given three readings.

Press Release - Kirkland Lake Council Passes the 2024 Municipal Budget

At their special meeting on April 25, 2024, the Council of the Town of Kirkland Lake passed its 2024 Budget that includes a Tax Levy of $12,571,568 on an overall net Operating Budget of $19,979,555 and includes an increase in the Residential Tax Rate of 5.85% over last year.

On Thursday, MPP John Vanthof was at the Joe Mavrinac Community Complex to hear more about the $465,000 Community Building Fund Capital Grant from the Ontario government and administered by the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). The grant, awarded in late 2021, was used for upgrades to the arena, addressing a community need by upgrading ventilation and dehumidification units, replacing the rink’s boards and benches, and improving accessible access to the facility.
