Backyard Hens Survey

Backyard Hens SurveyAs part of its commitment to engaging the community, the Town of Kirkland Lake is considering a new bylaw that would permit the keeping of backyard hens (female chickens) in both urban and rural residential areas. This initiative follows a petition from over 70 residents and signals growing local interest in food security, sustainability, and small-scale poultry keeping.

Council has authorized a public survey to gather input regarding the potential of keeping backyard hens. Your feedback is vital — whether you are considering raising hens, have concerns, or want to learn more, this survey will help guide Council’s decision-making.

The survey will be available until November 26th.
