Mayor - Stacy Wight

Stacy Wight was born, raised and educated in Kirkland Lake. Currently, she is proudly employed with Closing the Gap Healthcare, assisting community members to maintain their quality of life as they age, after injury and during palliative care. Stacy served this community throughout her life, volunteering with the Kabaret Charitable Foundation, Teck Centennial Library Board, Museum Advisory Committee, Canadian Blood Services, Ducks Unlimited, Relay for Life, Big Bike for Heart and Stroke, and Tim Horton's Camp Days Annually for the last decade. After serving one term on council, she is looking forward to the challenges and opportunities of being Mayor.

Councillor - Janice Ranger

Janice Ranger was born and raised in Kirkland Lake. Attended KLCVI and went on to attend Carleton University and the University of Waterloo studying Sociology and Interdisciplinary Studies. Lived and worked in Ottawa, until returning to Kirkland Lake in the mid 90's, where she attended Northern College; graduating from the First Nations Constable Program. Janice has over 24 years of work experience in human services in the community of Kirkland Lake. She has held leadership positions in her professional and volunteer work, including but not limited to Acting Sergeant of the Timiskaming District OPP Auxiliary program, President of the Kirkland Lake Rotary Club, and Board Member for the CMHA Cochrane Timiskaming. Janice also enjoys being the owner of her own business in event planning and decorating. Married to Mark Stewart, they both like camping and other activities related to living in Northern Ontario. Janice also enjoys volunteering in international humanitarian projects, specifically Rotary Wheels for Learning 2019 and 2023 in Cambodia. Janice looks forward to starting her journey in Municipal governance and serving the community of Kirkland Lake.

Councillor - Lad Shaba

Lad Shaba has been a resident of Kirkland Lake since 1979. He is a graduate of Northern College (Kirkland Lake Campus) in Civil Engineering Technology and also a graduate of both Laurentian University and Central Michigan University. Lad is a professional civil engineer and the owner of a consulting engineering firm with offices in Kirkland Lake and New Liskeard. Shaba is also a retired professor of Civil Engineering Technology at Northern College where he was the president of the academic union local for twenty years.

Lad has a track record of volunteering locally and regionally, being one of the founding members of Kirkland Lake Soccer Association (KLSA). In recognition of his work with KLSA, the soccer building on Dunfield Road was named after him - ‘Shaba Shack”. He has served as a member of Northern College Board of Governors, as a member and finance chair on the Ontario Northland Commission and was a member and subsequently the Chair of Timiskaming Housing Authority. Lad just completed serving two years on council.

Lad enjoys sports – soccer in particular; he enjoys camping and fishing.

Shaba, his wife Georgina and their children are proud to call Kirkland Lake home.

Councillor - Casey Owens​

Councillor Casey Owens is both humbled and proud by the trust residents of Kirkland Lake have given him for his second term in office. Along with his life partner, he has chosen to make Kirkland Lake his home. Our community has a lot to offer, and our future is looking good.

Councillor Owens has worked as a high school teacher with the French Catholic School Board for over 18 years. He has seen many of our youth grow up and become active members in the community. It is a privilege for him to work alongside some of them in making Kirkland Lake the best town it can be.

He is looking forward to using his experience and knowledge at the table with this new Mayor and Council.

Councillor - Dolly Dikens

When not at my job at Northern College or serving the faith needs of our community, I enjoy walking, kayaking, snowshoeing, golf and hanging out with my 5 1/2 month old Lab mix, Gia! Looking forward to the next four years in working with fellow council members to serve our community as we build on the work of previous councils.

Councillor - Rick Owen

Home town: Brampton On
Education: Diploma in Print Journalism, Sheridan College; BA, Trent University

I moved to Kirkland Lake in 1982 to get experience in my new career as a journalist and then move back to southern Ontario. It wasn't long before I realized I enjoyed the Northern lifestyle and the strong sense of community in Kirkland Lake. I have never regretted my decision to remain in Kirkland Lake.

I am married to Charlene (Kilian) and together we raised our three children, Richard, Brian and Stephanie.

Over the years I was active on many boards, organizations, and committees prior to running for council.

During my career at then Northern Daily News I was City Editor, News Wire Editor, Chief Photographer and Senior Reporter. As a journalist I was exposed to every aspect of life in Kirkland Lake. Prior to moving to Kirkland Lake I worked in manufacturing, retail sales including owning my own retail business and the hospitality industry.

I look forward in my second term as a Councillor to serving the residents, and businesses as we continue to build on the town's successes and embrace new opportunities to make Kirkland Lake an even better place to live, work and raise a family.

Councillor Pat Kiely

Once again, I am proud to represent the people of Kirkland Lake as a member of Council. I have previously held a position of Councillor and as Mayor. We have many challenges and ups and downs common in the mining sector, however the spirit and commitment of the Town has not dampened our spirit and enthusiasm to make this the great community that it is.

I commit to determination and hard work to make Kirkland a great place to live, work, play and learn.
