Get Involved

The Museum of Northern History relies on the support of the community. We offer many ways to participate:

Museum Auxiliary

A dedicated group of volunteers committed to preserving and enhancing the museum as a cultural and historical asset for the community. The Auxiliary contributes time and effort to maintaining the museum's appearance and interpretive capabilities through fundraising and personal commitments. For more information Contact the Auxiliary.

Museum Advisory Committee

The Museum Advisory Committee makes recommendations to Town Council on the Museum of Northern History's strategic direction. The MAC, appointed by council for a four-year term meets once a month. They represent a broad range of community interests to best represent Kirkland Lake.

Kirkland Lake residents interested in applying as a Committee Member should submit a letter to the Director of Economic Development and Tourism.

Student Volunteers

The lifeblood of any cultural institution is the efforts of its volunteers. There is no better way for a student to learn about contributing to the community than to help out at the Museum. And it is a great way to meet community volunteer requirements! We welcome any interested students to us at [email protected].
Note: all volunteers are required to complete a Criminal Record Check with the O.P.P.

Other Ways to Help

The Museum of Northern History welcomes volunteers of all ages! If you have an interest in local history and mystery the Museum of Northern History in Sir Harry Oakes' Chateau is the place for you!

If you don't have hours to dedicate, consider making a donation to the museum. It could be financial, an artifact, or even a photo.
