Section 26(9) of the Planning Act requires that a municipality update its Zoning By-law following approval of a new Official Plan. The Town of Kirkland Lake’s Official Plan was approved in 2015. The new Zoning By-law will update zone boundaries, permitted uses, and regulations to ensure conformity with the Official Plan and to address recent land use planning issues.

If you wish to be notified of the decision of the Town of Kirkland Lake on the proposed zoning by-law, you must make a written request to Ms. Louise Trottier, Development Services Administrative Assistant, Corporation of the Town of Kirkland Lake, 1 Dunfield Rd. Kirkland Lake, ON P2N 3P4.

If a person or public body would otherwise have an ability to appeal the decision of the Town of Kirkland Lake to the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal but the person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Town before the by-law is passed, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision.

If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting, or make written submissions to the Town of Kirkland Lake before the by-law is passed, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to do so.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION and copies of the draft Zoning By-law are available to the public for inspection during regular business hours at the Municipal Office, 1 Dunfield Rd. Kirkland Lake, ON P2N 3P4, and on the Town’s website kirklandlake.ca.
