Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)

The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) serves as the link between the municipality's elected officials and the corporation.

The primary responsibility of the office is to ensure the effective coordination of corporate resources, initiatives and operations to meet the needs of the community in line with Council approved policies and directions. Specific responsibilities include:

Responsibilities of the CAO include:

  • Council and External Relations: To ensure that the needs, concerns and complaints from both Council and the public are dealt with in a timely and constructive manner.
  • Plans and Budget: To establish and maintain an effective planning cycle for the Municipality, as well as obtain Council’s approval for the Town’s budget.
  • Program and Organizational Effectiveness: To ensure that approved and funded programs are carried out and completed according to plan in a timely and effective manner; and to establish, monitor and maintain an organizational design that fosters the achievement of Town programs.
  • Compliance: To ensure that all legislative requirements of the Town’s administration are met and complied with.
